‘Great Northern Cookbook’
Award Winning Artisan Cheese Maker, Chef and Actor

Sean Wilson is a well known actor, playing Martin Platt in the Nation’s favourite soap Coronation Street for 21 years (1984-2005). After Sean left the street he decided to fulfil his lifelong passion of cooking and went on to spend a year training as a chef, working at a number of Michelin starred restaurants including, Northcote Manor at Langho near Blackburn.

In 2009 Sean started a new venture, “The Saddleworth Cheese Company” with best friend of 30 years Mark Revell. Their cheeses were met with immediate success, winning three awards at the British Cheese Awards in 2009 including the Gold Medal for “Muldoons Picnic” and winning three more British Cheese Awards in 2010. Saddleworth Cheese most recent accolade was to win a Gold Medal at the World Cheese Awards in both 2011 and 2012!

Sean is now into his fifth year of producing award winning cheese and continues to travel up and down the country presenting his range of artisan cheeses at various festivals in their unique style focusing on fun and hilarity.

As well as the cheese company Sean has set up The Great Northern Food Company and has now developed a range of other products which are now available in the multiples. The Great Northern Food Company are committed to sourcing products with clean labels and no preservatives and these products will be hitting the shelves throughout 2014.

His latest project is the TV series “Great Northern Cookbook”. The series made up of four x one hour programmes debut in a prime time slot on Channel 5 this January 2013. A cookery book of the same name published by Hodder is now available in all good book shops and on

Alongside ‘Corrie’ Sean’s TV credits include Silent Witness, Waterloo Road and Doctors extending to Masterchef, Market Kitchen and Cooking with Gino D’Campo and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
