November Competition Part One: Win a Godminster Cheese Cake

So, Christmas is on the horizon and whether we like it or not, it’s time to turn our thoughts to festive celebrations and what exactly to buy for the person who has everything. Luckily, this month it’s Godminster to the rescue, as they are offering one of their stunning cheese cakes as a special pre-Christmas prize – a beautiful tower of Godminster cheeses that would make a perfect centrepiece for a Christmas or New Year buffet, or a lovely present for a cheese-loving friend (I know I shall be hinting relentlessly between now and Christmas), or even a wedding cake for anyone celebrating their nuptials next month.

Godminster are based in Bruton, Somerset, and have a proud history at the International Cheese Awards, where their products have repeatedly scooped plenty of prizes (more details below). It’s little wonder the cheese tastes so good - the farm was registered organic in 1999 by owner Richard Hollingbery and the cows at Godminster Farm enjoy a simple and wholesome life. As a result, these happy cows produce a deliciously fresh and creamy milk which, along with Richard’s sustainable approach to farming, is a major contributor to the delicious and distinctive taste of the award-winning Godminster cheese. Despite this traditional approach to farming, which focuses on respecting the environment and maximising sustainability, Godminster are both innovative and forward-thinking in the products they produce – take a look below at the gorgeous celebration “cake” for just one example of how Godminster are bringing tradition up-to-date!

One lucky winner this month will receive a Godminster cheese cake as pictured, consisting of the following ICA medallists:

  • Oak Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar - 3x Golds 2014 and 2015
  • Black Pepper Organic Brie - Gold 2015
  • Vintage Organic Cheddar - Silver 2915
  • Traditional Brie - Silver 2016

In all, the cake weighs in at a whopping 2.6kg – that’s a lot of cheese! It feeds 25-35 people (or me on a bad day), which makes it great value at just £64. For more details and to see the full range of stunning Christmas gifts, have a look at the Godminster website here.

To be in with a chance of winning this amazing prize, keep an eye on our Twitter feed (@iCheeseAwards) for one of the special competition tweets this week, then simply retweet and make sure you’re following both us and @Godminsterfarm.
