New look board for 2020

The International Cheese and Dairy Awards is proud to announce a new look committee for 2020 with some key additions to the board. Amongst these additions we are excited to welcome Ian Luxton as the new Chairman of the show. Ian has a long-standing relationship with the show and will bring a wealth of knowledge and ideas to our future plans. Ian will be supported by new Vice Chairman, Henry Elsby, with the new roles starting immediately.

Show Secretary, Adrian Lawrence said: “We’re very excited to welcome both Ian and Henry to the board. We have huge plans for the show in the coming years and the experience and understanding of the cheese and dairy industry which both Ian and Henry share will be of immense value to us.”

We caught up with new Chairman, Ian Luxton, who was excited to begin his new role and was looking forward to seeing both new and familiar faces at the 2020 event in July.

“I am delighted and honoured to have been given an opportunity to serve as Chairman ahead of the 2020 International Cheese and Dairy Awards. As a committee member for over 10 years, latterly as Vice Chairman, I fully appreciate the level of voluntary service and commitment required to make these awards the success they are, and I appreciate the tireless efforts of the team during the preparation and delivery of the competition and awards. My role is very much to nurture the right culture and develop the platform needed to ensure future success and security in the challenging and changing years ahead.

I’m looking forward to working with a great team of people from across the industry to deliver continued success, whilst encouraging and promoting continuous improvement going forward. The awards have an enviable global reputation that we aim to maintain, helping us prolong our meaningful and significant competitive benchmarking opportunity for products entered by retailers, manufacturers and packers/distributors alike.”

Speaking about the show moving forward, Ian said:

“The emphasis will be on the organisation, structure and improving communication. The focus will be to support and work together as a cohesive team of capable volunteers whose collective ambition is to deliver a successful and profitable show, to ensure the show maintains its reputation as the world’s leading dairy awards. Thereafter we aim to establish the necessary steps to ensure the future of the awards is secure.

I want to encourage an all-inclusive position where retailers, trade, competitors and exhibitors feel the show represents their interests and there is a reason to continue supporting our unique industry spectacle and ensure that the International Cheese and Dairy Awards remains one of the most important events on the dairy calendar. We’re currently engaging with our sponsors, exhibitors and competitors to seek feedback and the objective of the committee will be to use the information received to consider and effect the practicable changes identified, targeting year on year improvements.”
