March Competition: Win a Cheese Hamper from Barber’s

Spring is in the air and with this year’s International Cheese Awards just a few months away now, we’re celebrating with a great prize from our friends at Barber’s.

Barber’s is a true family business that has been making West Country Farmhouse Cheddar at Maryland Farm in Ditcheat, Somerset since 1833, making them the oldest cheesemakers in the country. They’ve perfected the art of making cheese using traditional methods over six generations, and are keen to preserve both standards and history in their corner of Somerset – they have their own laboratory and continue to use their natural mixed starter cultures for the production of their block Cheddars rather than turning to the dried “packet” starters used by many other producers. This attention to detail shows in the quality of the cheese and the growing success of the brand – the farm has now grown to an astonishing 2500 acres of prime Somerset dairy land and is home to around 2,000 dairy cows who provide much of the milk used for Barber’s Cheddar.

You can buy Barber’s cheeses here from their online shop, or from a number of farm shops and major supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Waitrose & Morrison's. Or, you could have a go at winning some…

How to Enter

For our March competition, Barber’s have very kindly given us a hamper containing a selection of products including their amazing 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar along with chutney and farmhouse butter to help you compile the perfect snack. The Vintage Reserve is always matured for at least 24 months, giving the cheese a deliciously creamy texture as well as complex flavours, with both savoury and naturally sweet notes.

To enter, simply follow both the ICA (@icheeseawards) and Barber’s (@Barbers1833) on Twitter, and retweet one of the competition tweets from the ICA timeline this week. One winner (who for delivery purposes must live in the UK mainland) will be drawn randomly from all retweets received by 8pm on Sunday 20th March 2015 – good luck!
