January Competition – Win a Hamper from Belton Cheese

Ah, January. The month of short days, long cold nights, diets, smug friends doing Dry January…no wonder it’s not everyone’s favourite month. Luckily our friends and key sponsors Belton Cheese have stepped into the breach with a splendid hamper full of cheese that will certainly cheer up one lucky winner.

Award Winning, Farmhouse Cheeses

Based at Belton Farm in the Shropshire countryside, Belton Cheese have produced farmhouse cheese for two hundred years now. They specialise in Cheshire but produce a huge range of cheeses, each of which is matured on-site in a purpose built cold store – the Red Fox is my personal favourite, aged for between 14 and 18 months and with a delicate crunch that comes from the naturally occurring calcium lactate crystals which form as the cheese matures. Belton uphold high animal welfare standards and can therefore display the Assured Food Standards Red Tractor symbol – their cows are very carefully looked after, and are turned out to grass in April, staying out as long as possible (usually until November at which point it becomes too wet and cold, and they start muttering about wanting to come inside and watch Strictly).

Belton can also display a fair few awards at the dairy as well: at last year’s International Cheese Awards they won an amazing 51 awards and 5 trophies - including, for the fifth year in a row, the National Westminster Trophy for the highest number of points overall. Surely time you tried them, if you haven’t already…

You can see the full range of Belton Cheese here on their website, but one lucky winner will win a basket containing a number of their cheeses to try as seen in the photo here, including the mighty Red Fox. If you’re not lucky enough to be our winner, you can pick up their lovely cheese in most major supermarkets nationwide and in a number of local stockists in and around Cheshire.

To be in with a chance of winning this great prize, keep an eye on our Twitter feed (@iCheeseAwards) for one of the special competition tweets over the coming week, then simply retweet and make sure you’re following both us and @BeltonCheese. Winner will be drawn at random at 8pm on Sunday 24th January - UK residents only please. Good luck everyone!
