International Cheese Awards Press Release October 2018: Show Secretary Adrian Lawrence and Vice Chairman Ian Luxton give us their thoughts on ICA2018

As 2018 begins to draw to a close, we’ve been reflecting on this year’s awards and another triumphant celebration of the very best in the dairy world. This month we hear from two of the people who make the show possible – tireless Show Secretary Adrian Lawrence and genial Vice Chairman Ian Luxton of Belton Farm. Here’s what they had to say about those brilliant couple of days in Nantwich this July.

Adrian Lawrence"A fantastic show held in fantastic weather saw crowds in excess of 36,000 descend on Nantwich for the International Dairy Awards and the Nantwich Show. Cheese entries reached a staggering number, well in excess of 5,000, which saw the very best cheese from all corners of the globe. The new Cheese Accompaniments Awards were a huge success and we will be moving this forward in future years to be a truly national and international competition.

The Trade Day Lunch saw a staggering 1,362 people sit down all at once for what is the largest Trade Lunch in the UK and possibly globally. Every aspect of the industry is present for a truly splendid day.

Nantwich Agricultural Society Ltd, a Charity, are delighted to be able to stage this event for the benefit of all sectors of the industry and of course the public. They thank everyone for their wonderful support and look forward to another great event on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st July 2019."

Ian Luxton: “Over 5000 competitive entries, 300 judges, 150 stewards, lots of tables and a cool pavilion. Where else would anyone want to be!

Rain, what rain? Other than a downpour during the trade day lunch proceedings lasting about 20 minutes, the sun shone down on the event and the public attended in numbers making the day a memorable one. Everyone was relaxed and smiling. Everyone was tasting and buying so much cheese. Well done to all involved and bring on next year!

There have been so many positive and supportive comments made to me after this show, more than any show before. One of the most common comments has been the all-inclusive nature of the show where both large and small cheese makers, retailers, trade and suppliers are all welcomed.

Each year comes around so quickly. Preparations for the show have started before the end of each year and there is no break until July and show day!  The success of the International Cheese and Dairy Awards Nantwich is achieved by the hard work and dedication of all those volunteers who give up their time to ensure high standards year after year.

International entries are growing in numbers as is the show's reputation as a key event on the dairy calendar. The International Cheese and Dairy Awards at Nantwich is simply the best place to benchmark products against the very best across the world. I would urge any international cheese maker out there to enter their products into the largest cheese competition in the world!

I am so proud of this show and all the volunteers who give up their time tirelessly to ensure success.

We genuinely offer help to International Cheese Makers who want to enter their products by making the logistical process as simple as possible. The show has consolidation partners in the USA (New York), Australia (for Australia and New Zealand) and Canada (Montreal and Quebec). Each forwarder works with our strategic partner at Heathrow to get entries through UK port authority border inspection and up to the show ground for staging.

Calling South America, India, Russia and the rest of the world! There's so many cheese makers out there who don't know just how good they are. There's so much passion in cheese and across the globe and some wonderful products waiting to be found. The International Cheese and Dairy Awards is the best place to show these cheeses, and anyone interested in attending the show should contact us at the addresses below.”
