International Cheese Awards Press Release October 2016: A New Chairman for the ICA – Welcome Chris Chisnall!

All Change: Bradburys’ Chris Chisnall is our new Chairman

We were all very sad when Bruce Macdonald stepped down this summer as ICA Chairman after three years’ service, but are excited to welcome his successor, Chris Chisnall.

Chris has the ideal background for the post, having worked in the cheese industry for over 12 years, first at the Oswestry-based Glanbia /The Cheese Company and then taking up the key role of Marketing Director at Bradburys Cheese in Buxton, where he has been for the last 11 years. His role at Bradburys gives Chris access to many fantastic cheeses and cheesemakers from around the world and we’re hoping this brings him lots of opportunities to promote the show both nationally and internationally.

Many of you will already know Chris – he has been involved with the Nantwich show for the last 12 years, and has served as Co-Vice Chairman along with Ian Luxton for the past six. Chris says of his new role, “I am looking forward to continuing the good work done over the last few years by Bruce Macdonald and would like to raise the profile of the show even further with retailers around the world, cheese lovers, consumers and press. I have seen the show grow from a medium size tent on grass to the wonderful spectacle it is today as the International Cheese Awards with entries from all around the world.”

Chris lives in Stafford with his wife Catherine and two children, and is always happy to talk cricket and football (well, Wolverhampton Wanderers), as well as cheese. We wish him all the best in his new role as ICA Chairman, and I look forward to pestering him next July during the show.

Looking Forward to ICA 2017

It’s never too early to start getting excited for next year’s show – planning is already underway for the 120th International Cheese Awards, which will take place on Tuesday 25th July (Trade, Judging and Press Day) and Wednesday 26th July (Show Day). Write the date in your diaries, and don’t forget there are plenty of ways to contribute to the biggest and best cheese show in the world - for more details about how to get involved as an exhibitor or a sponsor contact, or email Liz at if you’d like to attend as press.
