International Cheese Awards Press Release March 2016: Sean Wilson Confirmed for ICA 2016

Spring has now sprung and that means this year’s International Cheese Awards really is just around the corner. The biggest and best cheese show in the world will be back on July 26th (Judging and Trade) and 27th (Show Day), and the team are already putting in the hours to ensure that the 119th show will have something for everyone.

Sean Wilson Confirmed for this Year’s Show

After last month’s exciting news that James Martin is heading back to the demo theatre at Nantwich this summer, we’re delighted to announce that another regular ICA favourite, Sean Wilson, will be joining him. Sean of course made his name playing Coronation Street’s Martin Platt, but since leaving the show in 2005 he has built up a reputation as a highly successful cheesemaker, training as a chef and working in several Michelin starred restaurants including Northcote Manor before starting The Saddleworth Cheese Company with best friend of 30 years Mark Revell in 2009. The pair have achieved incredible success, winning numerous awards for their cheese at all the major awards, including the ICA, with a range that includes Muldoon’s Picnic, a lovely crumbly Lancashire, and the stunning Smelly Ha’peth, a true Saddleworth Blue. He’s also found time to write a cookbook and star in his own cookery show, as well as support the International Cheese Awards through his work as Patron.

Sean will once again be multi-tasking at this year’s show, and will be cooking up a storm in the Cookery Theatre as well as talking all things cheese on The Saddleworth Cheese Company stall. He’ll also no doubt be hoping to pick up a few more awards and we look forward to seeing him again this year – keep an eye on our website for details of the Cookery Theatre schedule as we get closer to July.
