International Cheese Awards Press Release June 2015: Final Countdown to this Year’s Show!

So, it’s the June newsletter and that can only mean one thing – just one month to go until the 118th International Cheese Awards take place in Nantwich on July 28th (Press, Trade and Judging Day) and July 29th (Show Day). Here’s why ICA 2015 is all set to be the biggest and best yet.

Record-Breaking Number of Entries

Well…we thought last year’s record number of entries (4,443) might be unbeatable – but we’re excited to confirm that dairy produce entries for this year’s show have closed on an astonishing 4,592. That’s a LOT of cheese – and as always, we’ve had entries from all over the world and from the very smallest independent producers as well as the giants of the cheese world. Last year’s Supreme Champion - Colston Bassett Dairy with their Whole Blue Stilton - was a worthy winner, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top this year.

The Cheese Marquee is Even Bigger

With all those entries to keep cool, it was pretty obvious that we were going to need a bigger tent – so we’ve expanded! Last year’s 80,000 square ft cheese marquee is now five metres bigger, giving us more room for extra exhibitors as well – this year we have over 100 companies exhibiting, another all-time record. And all that judging and sampling is hungry work – this year’s trade lunch looks to be even bigger than last year’s, which set a record as the largest dairy hospitality event in the UK with 1,144 people sitting down to eat together.

The Best-Value Celebrity Chef Demos

But of course, it’s not just about the traders and producers - this is an event for the public to enjoy as well. One of the highlights of Show Day on July 29th is our line-up of celebrity chefs, who have already been confirmed for this year as James Martin, Will Holland, Jonathan Harrison and Sean Wilson. The fabulous four will be performing cookery demonstrations throughout the day in the Le Gruyere Cookery Theatre – the full timetable for the day can be seen below. Tickets for the James Martin demos can be purchased via the Nantwich Show website (http://nantwichshow.co.uk/buy-tickets/) for £5, and guarantee you a seat – James’ performances are always a sell-out, so we recommend you book early. The other demos are all free but make sure you take your places early for the best view!
