International Cheese Awards Press Release January 2015: Culina Confirmed as Sponsors of this year’s Trade Lunch

So, we’re a month into 2015 and that means only six months to go until this year’s International Cheese Awards on the 28th and 29th July. Preparations are already well underway for ICA2015, with James Martin and Will Holland already confirmed as guests for our demo kitchen and some VERY important news about lunch…

Culina Confirmed as Sponsors for Trade Lunch

Lunch on the Judging, Press and Trade Day has become something of a legendary affair, with 1,144 sitting down to eat together at last year’s show – making it the largest dairy hospitality event in the UK. No mean feat considering this was all in a marquee during the world’s largest cheese show! The Trade Lunch will this year take place from 1pm on Tuesday 28th July, and we’re delighted to confirm that this part of the event will once again be sponsored by Culina, one of the leading food and drink logistics suppliers across the chilled and ambient temperature ranges (in other words, perfect temperatures for cheese).

The Trade Lunch offers great value at £32 + VAT per head, with champagne and canapés served from 1pm and cold meats, salads, dessert, cheese and biscuits and coffee and mints to follow (the cheese board, as you might expect, is a lavish affair and actually encompasses a huge table rather than a mere board). This is also a great social occasion, with large round tables providing the opportunity for some interesting cheese chat over lunch (other topics are available, but really, why would you?)

This year’s lunch looks set to top last year’s record-breaker, which sold out well ahead of time. Tickets will be available via the < a href="website">website soon – remember, it’s free for trade to attend the show on July 28th via a pre-registration form that will also be available online shortly.

Judging Invites

Meanwhile, the invitations to judge at this year’s awards have been going out this month. Last year more than 200 judges gamely tried a record-breaking 4,443 entries from 26 countries before settling on Colston Bassett Dairy as Supreme Champion for their Whole Blue Stilton. We’re ever grateful to our judges for donating their time to such a noble pursuit, and are already looking forward to seeing who they choose as this year’s award winners!
