International Cheese Awards Press Release August 2015: Lots of Thank Yous, and Looking Forward to 2016!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already over a month ago that we announced Greenfields Dairy Products’ Farmhouse Traditional Crumbly Lancashire as Supreme Champion of the International Cheese Awards 2015 and winner of The National Westminster Cup. Since then it’s been great to see all of our winners celebrating their successes on social media, and the Gold, Silver and Bronze labels starting to appear on the very best produce from this year’s show.

However, the two days of the show really are just the tip of the iceberg, and represent the proud culmination of a year’s hard work by a dedicated committee of volunteers who work tirelessly (well, OK, not always tirelessly) for a full 12 months to bring you the biggest and best cheese awards in the world every year.

We’re also – as always – profoundly grateful to all the others who contribute to the success of the show, so here are this year’s heartfelt thanks…

  • All of the cheese makers and traders who entered the awards or attended the show – we had record entries this year of 4615 products from 31 countries, making the show a truly international affair!
  • Our sponsors, who make all of this possible with their generosity and support
  • The committee, who worked some VERY long days and nearly always kept smiling
  • Our judges, who tackled those 4615 entries with knowledge, enthusiasm, and very wise expressions
  • All of the stewards, who so kindly volunteered their time and efforts to accompany and assist our judges and keep the show running smoothly
  • Our four celebrity chefs – James Martin, Will Holland, Sean Wilson and Jonathan Harrison - for keeping us so well entertained throughout the day and coming up with some cracking recipes
  • All the press who attended or wrote about the show
  • The results team for meeting our announcement deadlines, as usual!
  • The International Guilde des Fromagers, for once again allow us to welcome new members to the guild during the show
  • Culina, for sponsoring the amazing Trade Day lunch
  • Bel UK for sponsoring the press tent and feeding me Laughing Cow and Babybel at 9 in the morning
  • And some personal thanks from me to the caterers, who provided us with a beautiful lunch AND kept me topped up with tea and biscuits in the press tent!

We’re already hard at work and looking forward to next year’s show – ICA 2016 will take place on Tuesday 26th July (Trade, Judging and Press Day) and Wednesday 27th July (Show Day), and we want to make the 119th show the best yet!
