December Competition – Win a Hamper from Wyke Farms

Hurrah – almost Christmas, the time of year for quiet reflection, catching up with friends and family and (best of all), eating as much cheese as possible and excusing all forms of gluttony as entirely within the Christmas spirit. And even better, our friends at Wyke Farms have kindly donated an amazing cheesy Christmas hamper for our December competition – read on to find out more about this famous Somerset firm and how to be in with a shot at winning this great prize.

Traditional Cheddar from the Heart of Somerset

Wyke Farms is a true family business – they’ve been farming in the heart of beautiful Somerset for over 150 years, and reckon that the lush West Country climate plays a big part in the quality of the cheese they produce. They still use Grandma Ivy’s secret recipe (so secret, in fact, it’s kept locked safely away) from almost a hundred years ago to make their Cheddar, and their cheese is aged in wooden maturing boxes and constantly monitored by their Master Cheese Grader to guarantee consistent quality – little wonder that they’ve won more awards than any other Farmhouse Cheddar brand.

There’s far more to this brand than great cheese though – Wyke Farms is also deeply committed to environmental and community causes, and promotes a responsible approach to how we use the earth’s natural resources. Their aim is to create a sustainable working farm, sourcing electricity and gas from solar and biogas, generated from farm and dairy waste (and where there’s cows, there’s plenty of this), and they are also heavily involved with local projects and schools - so you can enjoy your cheese with a clear conscience! You can find out more about their 100% green farm here on their website.
