August Competition – Win a Hamper from DewlayCheesemakers to Celebrate a Great International Cheese Awards!

Well, what a triumph this year’s show turned out to be – ICA2016 broke all the records and might just have been the best one yet. There will be a full show round-up in our August press release towards the end of the month, but for now we’re focusing on one company who had a really successful show - and offering a great prize to celebrate their award-winning performance!

Best-ever Performance at Nantwich for Dewlay Cheesemakers

Dewlay have a history of doing well at the International Cheese Awards but this year achieved their best-ever haul of trophies and medals – a fitting reward for their commitment to traditional farming and cheese-making. They picked up four trophies, including awards for both Cheshire and Lancashire cheeses as well as the The David Dunn Memorial Trophy for best cheese board, along with ten golds and eleven other medals. This represents even more of an achievement when you consider the competition – this year’s show attracted a record 5000 entries from all over the world.

Dewlay Cheesemakers was founded back in 1957 by George Kenyon, whose grandsons Nick and Richard still run the business today from its home on the outskirts of Garstang in Lancashire. As third generation cheesemakers, the Kenyons are keen to keep alive the traditional methods used by their father and grandfather - all their Lancashire cheese is produced using fresh pasteurised milk sourced directly from farms located within a 6 mile radius of the Dewlay dairy, and uses their own unique starter culture developed on site more than 40 years ago. Today the dairy employs approximately 75 staff and their cheese is supplied to retailers throughout the UK, meaning that everyone has the chance to find out why they win so many awards!

To celebrate their success (and because they’re just really nice people), we have a brilliant prize from Dewlay to give away to one lucky winner in this month’s competition. The hamper includes a selection of their award-winning Lancashire cheeses (the Garstang Blue is my favourite!) as well as other goodies to supplement your cheese feast. If you’re not lucky enough to win, Dewlay cheese can also be purchased from their own shop as well as most major supermarkets and a number of independent stockists. Full details of the range are available on their website here.

To be in with a chance of winning this amazing prize, keep an eye on our Twitter feed (@iCheeseAwards) for one of the special competition tweets over the coming week, then simply retweet and make sure you’re following both us and @DewlayCheese. Winner will be drawn at random at 8pm on Sunday 14th August - UK residents over the age of 18only please. Good luck everyone!
